Beach Camp FAQ

Welcome!

Have you signed up for our camps and want to learn more? Or, are you on the fence? Hopefully we can clear some things up for you!

A camp info email will be sent the Friday before the camp week starts. Specific location information, coaches, and camp directors will be outlined in it.

Camp Location

The camps take place at Ashbridges Bay at 1681 Lakeshore Blvd east, at Coxwell Avenue. You can park in anyone of the 3 parking lots, but it is best to park in the lot closest to Coxwell Avenue as this one is the closest to the beach courts.

Coaches

We have a wide variety of skilled coaches at our camp.

From all walks of life; varsity athletes and professional volleyball players.

More info about our coaches can be found here.

Coaches will do skill assessments on the first day and make sure that the campers are placed in groups according to age and skill levels.

What to Bring
  • Campers are responsible to bring their own peanut-free lunch, healthy snacks and a refillable water bottle.

  • A tank top will be provided for each camper. Shorts, leggings, and sweats are all suitable gear to wear.  In addition, make sure to bring a sweatshirt and rain gear to prepare for weather changes throughout the day. Please remember to also bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a bathing suit and socks. The sand can get very hot (or cold) at times so sand socks or regular socks are important to have as well. Canuck volleyball store carries sand socks.  http://www.canuckstuff.com
Supervision

Phoenix Volleyball staff will escort young campers to the washroom area as needed. A lunch supervisor is present at the tent area for each lunch hour.

Weather Updates

The camp runs in hot, cold, or rainy weather days. For severe weather changes (lightning and thunder) we will notify families of the conditions. Coaches are still available to be on site in a protected area if parents have trouble coming down to pick up their camper.

Non-Volleyball Activities

Although the focus will always be primarily volleyball related activities, we do offer some other programming throughout the camp week.

Swimming at the public pool this year will be limited as it is undergoing construction. Coaches can take campers to the Lake to cool off though. Lifeguards are present along with our Court coaches. It will also be up to the discretion of the court coach, but most campers attend for short breaks in the afternoon period.

Stand up Paddles (SUP) will be offered as an option once a week. The days depend on what the SUP provider gives us. S.U.P participation is based on age, swimming skill and weather, and is up to the discretion of the activity leader. The suggested age for S.U.P is 11 yrs and we will use this as a guideline.

REC SUP REGISTRATION

If your camper is signed up for SUP a waiver is required. Please proceed here to sign it and send us a copy!

Lunch Options

Tim Horton’s is unfortunately now closed. There is a burger place that has taken over the spot, the Beach Cafe, Booster Juice, and a food truck.  In our opinion, it is best to pack a lunch.

Camp Theme Days

Every week we have a theme day which takes place on the Friday of camp. Kids are welcome to dress up while the Camp Olympics run.
